Notre Dame’s women’s basketball program has added a marquee piece to its roster, securing a commitment from five-star forward Eve Long, a top-ranked prospect who announced her decision on Tuesday.
A Recruit That Signals a New Era
Long, a 6-foot-3 standout from Olathe South High School in Kansas, chose the Fighting Irish over traditional powerhouses UCLA and UConn, underscoring the Irish’s rising appeal among elite recruits.
Her high school career was marked by a 32.7-point average, 9.8 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.4 blocks per game, earning her the 2025-26 Gatorade Kansas Girls Basketball Player of the Year honor.
Coach Niele Ivey, who has been building strong recruiting momentum, highlighted the addition as a testament to the program’s upward trajectory as the 2026 cycle approaches.
The Irish’s incoming freshman class was recently rated No. 4 nationally, and the team finished the previous season with a 25-11 overall record and a 12-6 mark in ACC play.
Long’s versatility on the court is expected to provide depth and flexibility for a squad that continues to attract top talent, positioning Notre Dame as a formidable force in the national landscape.
