Kansas High School Baseball State Tournament Gets a Revamped Format

Quarterfinal games move to neutral sites, with finals set for Lawrence and Wichita

A New Structure for the State Tournament

The Kansas high school baseball state tournament will look different this spring, as the Kansas State High School Activities Association has announced a shift in how the competition is staged.

Quarterfinal matchups will be held at three neutral sites — Emporia, Overland Park and Salina — with the higher‑seeded teams assigned to the closest available venue. Class 4A, 3A and 2‑1A will contest their games on Monday, while the 6A and 5A classes meet on Tuesday.

After the first round, winners will converge on a single site to finish the tournament. The 4A, 3A and 2‑1A semifinals and championship games are slated for Hoglund Stadium in Lawrence across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of next week, whereas the 6A and 5A finals will take place at Eck Stadium in Wichita, with semifinals on Thursday and the championship on Friday.

Because the brackets, seeds and opponents are still being finalized, fans are urged to keep an eye on KSHSAA announcements later this week to know exactly where their team will play and who they will face.

The field of qualifiers is organized by classification, ensuring that each division gets its own path to the championship, and the new format promises a compact, high‑stakes conclusion to the season.
