Preseason Rankings and Honors
The University of Alabama at Huntsville’s men’s soccer program entered the 2026 Gulf South Conference preseason conversation with a fourth‑place finish in the coaches poll, a placement that reflects both past performance and the optimism surrounding the squad.
Senior forward Oli Orzechowski, who led the Chargers offensively with ten goals and twenty‑one points last season, earned a spot on the preseason All‑GSC Team, while fellow senior goalkeeper Sonny Wright, a standout between the posts with a 0.83 goals‑against average and an .806 save percentage, also received the honor.
Building on a 9‑4‑4 record from 2025, the Chargers secured the No. 5 seed for the GSC championships and marched to their first semifinal since 2019 before falling 2‑1 to top‑seeded Mississippi Christian.
Coach staff will rely on the experience of Orzechowski and Wright while integrating three freshmen — Marc Lorenz, Luis McCabe and Ollie Rigby — who were named to the conference’s Newcomers to Watch list, adding depth and future prospects.
