The Tucson Roadrunners are set to headline a historic preseason showcase that will bring together four American Hockey League squads for a two‑day extravaganza in the desert city.
A Milestone for the Southwest
Fans will be treated to a vibrant fan fest on Friday evening, where the arena will transform into a hub of player autographs, interactive games, public skating sessions, live music, food vendors and a host of other activities designed to celebrate the sport.
Saturday’s action kicks off at 3 p.m. MDT with a clash between the Colorado Eagles and the Texas Stars, followed later at 7 p.m. MDT by a showdown between the Henderson Silver Knights and the host Roadrunners.
The following day, Sunday, the schedule flips with the Silver Knights taking on the Eagles at 3 p.m. MDT, and the Stars meeting the Roadrunners at 7 p.m. MDT, promising a full slate of competitive hockey before the regular season begins.
All ticket information is available through the Roadrunners’ official website, where supporters can secure their seats and learn more about the event’s offerings.
Beyond the on‑ice competition, the Southwest Showdown serves as a platform for the league to gauge fan enthusiasm in a non‑traditional market and to give each club a chance to fine‑tune strategies ahead of the upcoming campaign.
The inaugural Southwest Showdown marks the first time the AHL has staged a multi‑team preseason tournament in the region, underscoring the league’s commitment to expanding its footprint and deepening regional rivalries.
Local organizers say the event is expected to draw thousands of visitors, boosting hospitality revenues and putting Tucson on the map as a key destination for professional hockey.
