A packed 2027 schedule sets the stage
The Oklahoma State Cowboys baseball program has released its 2027 Big 12 slate, a schedule that weaves together a series of home and away battles against the league’s traditional powers. Starting March 18, the Cowboys will welcome the Kansas State Wildcats for a four‑game home series, a matchup that could shape early conference standings.
Overall, the Cowboys are slated to face ten of the conference’s thirteen members, a format that determines seeding for the Big 12 Tournament later in the spring. The tournament itself will be held at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona, from May 25 through May 29, bringing together the top twelve regular‑season finishers for a final showdown.
Surprise, Arizona to host the championship chase
Last season, Kansas captured the tournament title, while Oklahoma State advanced to the semifinals before falling to Alabama in the Tuscaloosa Regional final of the NCAA Tournament, a loss that earned the Cowboys an at‑large berth but ended their run with a 4‑3 defeat.
The Cowboys will host five home series and travel for five road series, the first of which takes them to Fort Worth to meet TCU from March 25 to 28. Road trips will also include contests at Utah, Arizona, Kansas and West Virginia, opponents who reached the Big 12 title game a year ago.
Roster reshaped with veterans and newcomers
Returning talent anchors the lineup, with outfielder Kollin Ritchie, catcher Campbell Smithwick, and pitchers Stormy Rhodes and Hunter Watkins all back in the fold. The team has also bolstered its roster through the transfer portal, adding arms such as Noah Kenney and Will Jordan, as well as hitters Sean Yamaguchi and Aubrey Kearns.
Coach Garrett Shull and his staff believe the blend of experience and fresh arms gives the club a realistic shot at a championship run, especially if the pitching staff can stay healthy through the grind of conference play.
