The University of Central Florida’s newest addition, Roth Tower at the Acrisure Bounce House, now showcases two striking murals that turn its exterior into a canvas of school spirit and local pride.
A Collaborative Vision
Artist Harry Foreman, a 2018 graduate, teamed up with fellow alumni Nicole Lind of the class of 2011 and Paulaiden Minerva of 2015 to bring the project to life. Using virtual‑reality tools, the trio drafted the designs before translating them onto the building’s façade.
The murals fuse Art Deco aesthetics with whimsical orange‑blossom characters, embedding subtle nods to UCF’s past — a whoopsie‑daisy flower and a rubber duck from the Spirit Splash tradition among them.
Funding the Future
Financed by a $90 million allocation of Tourist Development Tax revenues from the Orange County Board of County Commissioners, the artwork underscores a public‑private partnership aimed at boosting sports tourism in the region.
One panel spotlights the bond between UCF and Orlando, while the other honors Orange County’s role in supporting the initiative, delivering a clear message of gratitude to the community that made the project possible.
Harry Foreman, now based in both Orlando and Denver, has extended his reach beyond campus, painting murals for the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars. His selection for the City of Orlando’s Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge, part of a $1 million grant, reflects the growing recognition of UCF‑affiliated artists.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Beyond aesthetics, the murals serve as an inspiration for future students, illustrating how the university’s creative labs, clubs and freelance opportunities can launch a career that blends engineering, technology and art. As the campus continues to evolve, these works stand as a testament to UCF’s commitment to community engagement and artistic innovation.
