The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team traveled to Los Angeles and returned with a 2‑1 victory over Loyola Marymount University, securing the program's first road win of the 2026 season. Debut performances by Weslee Istone-Haupt, Blakeley Soderman and Eden Jones added fresh energy, while Sofia Doheny made her first appearance of the year after injury.
A Road Win to Remember
From the opening whistle the Panthers controlled possession, outshooting the Lions 10‑0 in the first half. A precise corner kick retrieved by Katie Ellermeyer set up a pass from Adi Bianchin that found Celine Ottah for the opening goal.
Lola Abraham extended the lead in the 73rd minute after a penalty was awarded, coolly converting to make it 2‑0. Despite a flurry of yellow cards for physical play, Pitt maintained pressure and limited LMU's chances.
A late strike by LMU in the 89th minute pulled one back, finalising the score at 2‑1. The win was highlighted by the debut performances of Weslee Istone-Haupt, Blakeley Soderman and Eden Jones, while Sofia Doheny made her first appearance of the year after recovering from injury.
Next up, the Panthers head to Santa Clara University for a Sunday afternoon showdown at 3 p.m. ET, a match that will be streamed live on ESPN+.
