A Strategic Addition to Tufts Basketball
Ryan Jenei is set to begin a new chapter in college basketball as he joins Tufts University’s coaching staff for the 2026 season, taking on the role of assistant coach. The move comes after a distinguished playing career and several years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and youth levels.
During his tenure at Oglethorpe University, Jenei not only amassed 856 points, 443 rebounds, 143 assists and 74 steals as a Stormy Petrel, but also earned Southern Athletic Association Academic All‑Conference honors in each of his five seasons. His blend of athletic performance and scholarly achievement reflects a commitment to excellence that aligns with Tufts’ institutional values.
Prior to his arrival in Medford, Jenei served as an assistant coach at Colby College during the 2025‑26 academic year and previously contributed to Oglethorpe’s program from 2023‑25. In those roles he helped develop player development strategies, oversaw conditioning regimens, and mentored student‑athletes both on and off the court.
Beyond the collegiate arena, Jenei has extensive experience coaching youth basketball, including stints with the Redline Basketball Club UA Rise. His coaching philosophy emphasizes disciplined skill development, analytical thinking, and a strong work ethic, qualities he hopes to instill in Tufts’ roster.
Jenei holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Oglethorpe University and a Business Analytics certificate, underscoring his appreciation for data‑driven decision making. As he steps into his new position, he will collaborate with the program’s leadership to enhance competitive performance and academic integration.
The university’s athletic department expressed confidence that Jenei’s background will enrich the team’s competitive edge and academic mission, positioning Tufts for a promising future in the highly contested New England basketball landscape.
