Cassidy Nichols’ First Goal Sparks Mount St. Mary’s in 8-1 Loss to Bucknell

A late strike by Nichols prevented a shutout as the Mount fell to 0-3 and prepares for a matchup with George Mason

The Mount St. Mary's women's soccer squad traveled to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, on August 20, 2026, where they faced Bucknell in a match that ended 8-1 in favor of the Bison, dropping the Mount to 0-3 on the season.

A Late Bright Spot

Bucknell struck early, netting five goals in the first half and building a commanding lead before the break.

Cassidy Nichols, a sophomore forward, finally got the Mount on the board in the 85th minute, scoring her first goal of the 2026 campaign and her fifth tally in a Mount uniform.

The Bison added two more markers after the interval, with Gaby Parker and Presley Sutter each finding the net to round out the scoring.

Despite the defeat, the late strike prevented a shutout and gave the Mount a glimmer of optimism as they prepare to host George Mason on August 23 in Fairfax, Virginia.
