The University of Evansville women's soccer squad celebrated its first win of the season on Saturday, edging SEMO 2-0 in a home opener that left the crowd buzzing.
From the outset the Aces controlled possession, outshooting the visitors 7-2 in the opening half and carving out several clear chances.
First Half Dominance
The breakthrough arrived in the 64th minute when Ella Hamner rose to meet a corner delivery from Mia Lancaster, heading the ball past the goalkeeper for the opening goal.
Ten minutes later, Izzie Ryan unleashed a strike from distance that curled into the net, marking her first career goal and extending the lead.
Goalkeeper Emma Nathans preserved the clean sheet with two crucial saves, earning her first collegiate shutout and underscoring the team's defensive cohesion.
The victory extends Evansville's recent dominance over SEMO, following a 4-3 win in Cape Girardeau last year, and sets the stage for a showdown with Lindenwood during Alumni Weekend.
