On a crisp August evening in Stillwater, Oklahoma’s women’s soccer team posted a 2-0 victory over their in-state rivals, Oklahoma State, in a match that showcased both offensive precision and defensive dominance.
Freshmen Kate McCallister opened the scoring in the 30th minute, rising to meet a cross and heading the ball over the outstretched hands of the Cowgirls’ keeper. Ten minutes before the hour mark, Kennedy Kaiser added the second goal, slotting a perfectly placed shot after a crisp cross from Kayla Keefer.
The Sooners’ back line refused to yield, limiting Oklahoma State to zero shots on target for the entire contest. Goalkeeper Callie Sullivan earned her second straight clean sheet, preserving the shutout and underscoring the team’s early-season resilience, while teammates Elle Canty, Lexi Dendis, Paige Califf and Ally Laccinole contributed to the disciplined defensive effort.
Looking Ahead
The Sooners will host Colorado College on August 23, with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m. and a live stream available on SEC Network+. The win marks the first time the program has recorded consecutive victories over the Cowgirls since the 2016 season, a milestone that bodes well for the months to come.
