Reece Walby, a senior at Gibsonburg High School, has become a household name in Ohio sports after earning all‑state honors in three disciplines.
A Triple‑Sport Legacy
On the football field he amassed 105 tackles, six interceptions and two touchdowns, establishing a program record with 16 career picks that eclipsed his father Nick Walby’s mark.
In basketball he averaged 17.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.6 steals, crossing the 1,000‑point milestone with relative ease and earning special‑mention all‑state recognition.
The Sandusky Bay Conference River Division crowned his team champions, and he was named player of the year after leading the squad to a first‑place finish.
His baseball season saw him hit two home runs, drive in 16 runs and score 26 times while pitching 30 ⅔ innings, earning second‑team all‑Ohio honors and first‑team conference accolades.
Coach Tony Egbert, who has guided Walby across all three sports, describes him as “special” for his defensive skill, scoring ability and leadership, noting the athlete’s balanced year‑round routine.
Beyond personal statistics, Walby says his favorite sport changes with the season, but he remains committed to giving his best effort and mentoring younger teammates as he prepares for his senior year.
