Jesse Messier has been appointed head coach of the Indy Fuel, marking the fifth time the franchise has turned to him for leadership.
With more than 20 years of experience across the ECHL, OHL, college and junior circuits, Messier brings a deep understanding of player development, special teams and recruiting to the role.
His most recent stop was as an assistant coach for the Bloomington Bison, where he directed the defense, penalty kill and player development initiatives.
Championship pedigree
At York University Messier helped guide the program to the 2017 Queen’s Cup championship and compiled a 63‑37‑12 regular‑season record, while his tenure with the Kam River Fighting Walleye culminated in a regular‑season title and a league‑final appearance in 2023‑24.
Owner Jim Hallett highlighted Messier’s leadership, player‑development skills and championship experience as the primary reasons for his selection.
The Fuel organization now looks to translate that pedigree into a Kelly Cup championship, leveraging Messier’s proven ability to build competitive teams and nurture talent toward professional careers.
