Wildcats open season with a statement
Kansas State’s soccer squad rolled into Buser Family Park on a crisp evening and left no doubt about their intentions, dispatching Missouri State 3-0 in the 2026 home opener.
The victory marks the Wildcats’ fourth straight win, a stretch that ranks as the second‑longest unbeaten run in program history and sets the tone for a season that already looks promising.
A barrage of chances
Offensively, Kansas State was relentless, firing off a school‑record 32 shots, 13 of which landed on target. Senior forward Rilyn Rintoul opened the scoring in the sixth minute, slipping a pass to McKinnan Braswell, who finished from eight yards out to put the team ahead.
Braswell’s goal also marked the earliest strike for the Wildcats since Sophie Simmons found the net at 4:28 in a 2024 matchup against Utah, and it served as her second game‑winning goal of the campaign and of her career.
Freshman forward Kennedy Miller capped the scoring in the 76th minute, while sophomore Gabby DeMers added the second goal eight minutes earlier after a turnover by the opposition.
Between the bursts of attack
Between the bursts of attack, junior goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing proved why she is now tied for second in program history with 10 career shutouts, preserving the clean sheet with a single save while Missouri State managed only two shots in the closing minutes.
Looking ahead, the Wildcats will host South Dakota State in their next home fixture, hoping to extend the momentum generated by a dominant performance that combined defensive resilience with an explosive attack.
