The 2026 Tennessee high school football season opened with a decisive 38‑20 victory for Baylor School over Brentwood Academy, a game that instantly spotlighted several of the state’s most coveted 2027 prospects. The win gave early momentum to a class that is already drawing national attention.
Among the standouts, five‑star running back David Gabriel Georges, who starred for Baylor School, announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee, underscoring the Vols’ continued dominance in retaining top talent within the state. His pledge was accompanied by a pledge from four‑star wide receiver Kesean Bowman of Brentwood Academy and linebacker Kenneth Simon II, also a Brentwood product, both of whom cracked the top 25 in the 247Sports rankings.
The commitments also reached beyond Tennessee’s borders. Linebacker Omarii Sanders chose Vanderbilt University, athlete Tae Walden Jr. opted for Oregon University, and offensive lineman Li'Marcus Jones pledged to Colorado University. These decisions illustrate the geographic pull that the 2027 class is exerting on elite programs.
Other notable pledges include offensive linemen Antonio Keefer (Ole Miss), Kaden Buchanan (Virginia Tech), and Princeton Uwaifo, who remains undecided but is heavily linked to in‑state options.
