LRSC Royals unveil Manitoba‑heavy freshman class ahead of new season

Ten newcomers, including standout returnees, aim to rebound after a challenging 12‑16 campaign

A Manitoba‑heavy freshman class

The Lake Region State College men’s hockey program is gearing up for the 2026‑27 season with a roster that blends experience and a sizable influx of new talent.

Ten freshmen will join the existing 22‑player squad, among them seven from Manitoba, two from Ontario and Alberta, and one from North Dakota.

Among the returning players, Brody Parker of Cando, N.D., will lead the offense after posting 30 points last year, while goalies Nathaniel Bowlby and Carson Cronquist return with save percentages of 87% and 89% respectively.

Coach Brady Stein, who also serves as the team’s strength and conditioning coach, has overseen the program for the past two seasons and will guide the Royals through a schedule that begins with a scrimmage on September 17 at the University of Mary.

The Royals open the season with road matchups against Waldorf and Jamestown before returning home, aiming to improve on a 12‑16 record that followed a 20‑16 campaign the year before.

The incoming class includes forwards from Manitoba’s rural communities, a defenseman from Rocky Mountain, Alberta, and a forward from Princeton, Ontario, adding regional depth to the lineup.

With a blend of home‑grown talent and experienced returnees, the Royals hope to turn the page and contend for a stronger finish in the upcoming ACHA season.
