The 2026 high school football season opened with a slate of non‑conference games that left the Richland County contingent with a modest 4‑4 record, setting the stage for a competitive year.
Clear Fork opened its campaign with a 28‑14 victory over Granville. The offense was anchored by Trey Sellers, who rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown, and Marcus Hoeflich, who added 86 yards and two scores.
Plymouth celebrated its first ever win in the 8‑man format, defeating Windham 29‑20. The game began with a spectacular kickoff return for a touchdown by Keegan Beverly, and Isaiah Miller contributed a 33‑yard rushing score.
Hillard Davidson rolled past Mansfield Senior 30‑6, while Northwestern dominated Crestview 54‑14. Colten Ernandas capped a 64‑yard pass play with a touchdown, and Gavin Webb finished the scoring with a 26‑yard run.
Other local programs also got off to strong starts, with Ashland beating Bay 28‑7 and St. Marys Memorial posting a 36‑12 win over Galion, underscoring the depth of talent in the county.
