A New Era for Hill College Soccer
Hill College broke ground in April on a $4.2 million soccer complex that marks the institution’s first major capital project in years, setting the stage for a $7.9 million facility that will serve as the centerpiece of its athletic program.
The complex, slated to become the premier soccer venue for a community college in Texas, will feature a 120‑yard synthetic turf field surrounded by a 20‑foot perimeter fence, LED lighting and a modern scoreboard, creating a professional‑grade playing surface for student‑athletes.
An additional $3.7 million addition is currently under construction, adding a split pavilion, a grandstand with four to five rows of seating, locker rooms, team benches and a VIP suite, all designed to enhance the spectator experience and provide comprehensive support facilities.
The new venue will be integrated behind the baseball field and linked to existing campus pathways and walking trails, ensuring seamless access for players, coaches and the broader community while preserving the campus’s aesthetic cohesion.
Debt‑Free Ambition and Community Impact
Hill College President Thomas Mills emphasized that the project is being financed without incurring debt, reflecting the college’s commitment to fiscal responsibility while delivering a world‑class facility.
Mills noted that the complex will benefit not only the college’s men’s and women’s soccer teams — both of which are poised for strong seasons — but also the city of Hillsboro and the surrounding Hill County, offering a venue for competitions, youth programs and community events.
The men’s soccer team finished the 2025 season with a 9‑5‑2 record, earning a regional final berth, and both squads are expected to compete at a high level in the upcoming season, further cementing the complex’s role as a catalyst for athletic excellence.
Beyond athletics, the facility is expected to generate economic activity for local businesses, provide a gathering space for civic events and reinforce Hill College’s reputation as a hub for student engagement and regional sports development.
