The West Virginia Mountaineers women's basketball team has revealed its 2026 Education Day matchup, scheduling a contest against the Akron Zips for November 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Hope Coliseum in Morgantown.
A Tradition That Keeps Growing
Since its inception in 2018, the Education Day event has evolved from a modest campus outing into a marquee attraction that draws thousands of students, teachers and community members.
The game offers free admission for teachers, students and chaperones, while providing interactive learning stations that turn the arena into a classroom on wheels.
Milestone for Coach Kellogg
Head coach Mark Kellogg celebrated his 500th career victory during last year's Education Day game, a 80‑51 triumph over Appalachian State that underscored the program's rising stature.
The 2026 edition promises to build on that momentum, with the team hoping to extend its recent success in the Big 12 Conference Tournament and upcoming NCAA Tournament appearances.
Gia Cooke led the scoring with 19 points in the recent contest, while Meme Wheeler added 15 points and five rebounds, illustrating the depth of talent on the roster.
Because of limited bus parking at Hope Coliseum, registration for the 2026 Education Day will close once capacity is reached, ensuring a manageable crowd for the interactive learning stations.
