A Turbulent Third Quarter
The San Pedro Pirates opened the contest with a string of eight consecutive runs, a ground attack that featured running back Jaxon Brown and long gains from Michael Artiga, before quarterback Seth Solario plunged over from one yard out to put his team ahead 20-6 in the third quarter.
Just as the Pirates celebrated the score, a loud bang echoing like a gunshot erupted near the athletic field house, prompting a wave of spectators to flood the playing surface and forcing officials to suspend the game.
Coach Corey Walsh confirmed that sheriff's deputies quickly escorted the players and staff behind the bleachers, ensuring everyone’s immediate safety while the situation was assessed.
King/Drew’s junior quarterback Gerald Torres, a transfer from Baltimore, had already demonstrated his arm with three completions in the first half, including a 20-yard strike that set up the Golden Eagles’ first touchdown of the season.
The Golden Eagles answered with a 38-yard rush by Jarr Muhamed, capping a drive that briefly flipped the scoreboard before the chaos erupted.
After the field was cleared and play resumed, San Pedro recovered a pooch kick and marched downfield, where Michael Artiga finished a 6-yard run to extend the Pirates’ lead.
The game ultimately ended in an unfinished state, but the Pirates added a 36-yard touchdown after halftime, underscoring a night of dramatic swings and unresolved tension.
