Indiana’s baseball program has released its fall schedule, a compact slate of four games that blends exhibition matchups with early‑season conference play. Coach Jeff Mercer, now in his third year, said the schedule is designed to give the team a strong foundation before the traditional spring campaign.
Fall Schedule Overview
The Hoosiers will open with a home exhibition against Huntington University at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, then host Kentucky on October 16 at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington. Their only road test comes at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, where they will meet West Virginia, the sole out‑of‑state opponent on the slate.
While the exact dates for the late‑October Fall World Series remain undecided, the coaching staff expects the event to serve as a showcase for the new talent and to fine‑tune the team before the spring season begins.
Roster Dynamics
A core of returning starters, including third‑year catcher Hogan Denny, outfielder Cole Decker and second‑baseman Landen Fry, will be joined by 24 newcomers. Among them are transfers such as Nate Eisfelder from Tennessee, Kelvyn Paulino Jr. from Florida State and Ryan Maggy from West Virginia, all bringing Power Four experience to the lineup.
With a blend of seasoned veterans and fresh arms, Mercer believes the team is poised to compete aggressively in the upcoming season, and the fall schedule will provide crucial early feedback.
