The small town of Alma Center, Wisconsin, was rocked this weekend by the sudden death of 18‑year‑old Adam Massman, a senior at Lincoln High School who had been a standout on the football field and a three‑sport athlete.
A Community in Mourning
Massman collapsed during the final moments of a game against Turtle Lake on Thursday night, and despite rapid medical attention he could not be revived. Emergency personnel transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Coaches and teammates remember him not only for his 858 passing yards and ten touchdowns in six games this season, but also for his leadership as a defensive back, his versatility in basketball and baseball, and his inclusion on the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association’s 2025 Boys Basketball Academic All‑State list.
School District's Response
His mother, Brianne Massman, and extended family have deep roots in the Alma Center‑Humbird‑Merrillan School District, where several relatives work within the school system. The district responded by reopening the Jr./Sr. High School on Saturday, inviting students, parents and friends to gather while counselors offered support.
District officials announced that additional counseling sessions will be available on Monday and Tuesday as the community processes the loss. Friends have begun sharing memories on social media, highlighting his infectious smile and his dedication both in the classroom and on the field.
