The Jeannette High School football program is six victories away from etching its name into Pennsylvania sports history with its 800th career win. The pursuit of this landmark reflects a legacy that began with a 700th victory celebrated in 2015 and has since been built on sustained excellence across decades.
Only one other WPIAL school, Aliquippa, has reached the 800-win threshold, and just four programs statewide share that distinction. The Jayhawks currently sit at 794 wins with a career winning percentage of 68.7%, positioning them alongside traditional powerhouses such as New Castle, Washington, Clairton, McKeesport, Greensburg Salem and Beaver Falls, all of which have amassed 700 or more victories.
National rankings place Jeannette at No. 59 on MaxPreps' list of the 500 winningest high school football teams, while nearby Greensburg Salem ranks 168th and Monessen, needing just two more wins to join the 700‑win club, sits at No. 240. The elite group at the top of the list includes storied programs like Valdosta, Ga., and Washington Massillon, Ohio, underscoring the rarity of Jeannette's achievement.
Coach Tommy Paulone and standout player Jayce Powell have voiced enthusiasm about the potential historic milestone, emphasizing how the chase for 800 wins has become a unifying narrative for the team and the broader community.
