A Milestone for Agent Education
A fresh cohort of 42 aspiring basketball agents has just completed the FIBA‑Licensed Agent examination in Mies, Switzerland, marking another step in the sport’s global governance.
The candidates, drawn from 31 different nations, underwent a comprehensive assessment that covered player eligibility, international transfers, anti‑doping protocols and the full suite of FIBA regulations governing agents.
Kim Gaucher, Head of the Players Unit at FIBA, underscored the critical importance of equipping agents with a deep understanding of the rules and of conducting their profession with ethical professionalism.
During the ceremony the participants toured FIBA’s Naismith Arena, a 1,000‑square‑meter showcase that chronicles the evolution of basketball from its early days to the modern game.
The Mies test follows an earlier session held in Manila, Philippines, in January 2026, and it forms part of a series of examinations that will continue in Miami, United States, on June 26 and in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on August 12.
With this qualification the new agents are now authorized to represent players on the international stage, playing a pivotal role in preserving the integrity of global basketball.
