Michigan Wolverines head coach Mike Boynton Jr. has announced the addition of Dylan Murphy to his coaching staff, a move designed to deepen the program’s player‑development capabilities and analytical edge.
A G League pedigree with a teaching focus
Murphy arrives after eight years within the Orlando Magic organization, where he progressed from basketball operations analyst to assistant coach and finally head coach of the G League affiliate Osceola Magic. During his tenure, he guided the team to three consecutive Eastern Conference No. 1 seeds and earned NBA G League Coach of the Month honors in March 2025.
His reputation rests on a blend of player development, analytics and communication. Murphy helped nurture G League MVP McClung and several other prospects who earned All‑NBA G League honors and NBA call‑ups, showcasing his ability to translate data‑driven insights into on‑court growth.
