A freshman at PennWest University, Karoline Heintz, was found dead early Thursday morning after a brutal attack that has left the campus community reeling. The discovery came shortly after midnight, when university police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle near the library.
According to investigators, her boyfriend, Royce Moser, used a kitchen knife to stab her in the chest before placing her body in the trunk of her Jeep Cherokee. He then drove the vehicle to his mother’s residence, where Rachel Moser allegedly helped clean the interior, supplied latex gloves and later abandoned the Jeep near the campus library, leaving the victim still inside.
When authorities arrived, they discovered blood spatter both inside and outside the vehicle, and the body was recovered from the rear hatch shortly after midnight. The scene revealed a chaotic attempt to erase evidence, with the Jeep left abandoned in a highly visible location.
