The Ohio State Buckeyes have added a new face to their roster this season: Vuk Lazarevic, a freshman center who arrived from Red Star Belgrade. His journey to Columbus began on the courts of Serbia before a stint at Wasatch Academy in Utah, where he caught the attention of college scouts with solid performances on both ends of the floor.
During his year at Wasatch Academy, Lazarevic posted modest but steady numbers — 8.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.2 blocks per game — while helping the team secure a No. 7 seed in the Chipotle Nationals. The exposure from that tournament, combined with a visit to the University of Connecticut, paved the way for his commitment to the Buckeyes.
A Crowded Frontcourt
Ohio State's interior is already well stocked. Established contributors such as Josh Ojianwuna, Ivan Njegovan, Lee Aaliya, Andrej Jelavic and Amare Bynum are all vying for minutes at the center position. This depth makes it clear that Lazarevic will not be a guaranteed starter in his debut season.
Coaches have indicated that Lazarevic may see action in non‑conference matchups when the team holds a comfortable lead, but the regular‑season rotation remains heavily contested. The freshman will need to demonstrate consistent improvement in practice to earn a more substantial role.
