Having served five years as a coordinator within the same program, Nerio brings deep institutional knowledge and a clear vision for the team’s future.
The Mules finished the 2025 season as regional finalists, falling just short in a high‑scoring playoff loss to Boerne, 56‑49, a result that left a lasting imprint on the squad.
Senior quarterback Easton Stone, who was a key contributor in that game, said the defeat fueled his desire to push the team toward a stronger finish in the upcoming season.
Alamo Heights will face a demanding district schedule that includes perennial powerhouses such as Boerne and Liberty Hill, programs often compared to the intensity of an SEC conference.
Nerio emphasized that the tough slate is intentional, designed to sharpen the Mules for postseason contention and to test them against elite competition.
