Syracuse Prepares for Cornell Showdown
Syracuse University’s women’s basketball team is set to open its non‑conference slate at the Carrier Dome on Sunday, November 8, 2026, when it welcomes Ivy League opponent Cornell.
The matchup marks the latest chapter in a series that has seen the Orange dominate, posting an 18‑3 record overall and a nine‑game winning streak against the Big Red, the most recent of which ended in a 78‑71 victory in December 2023.
That win contributed to a 24‑9 finish for Syracuse in the 2025‑26 campaign, a season that culminated in a second‑round appearance in the NCAA Tournament, while Cornell struggled to a 9‑18 record.
A Tournament in Paradise
Later in the month, the Orange will travel to San Juan for the 2026 Discover Puerto Rico Shootout, scheduled for November 25‑27, where they will face an as‑yet‑unannounced field that has previously included teams such as Central Florida, East Carolina, Illinois State, Kentucky, Maryland, Morgan State, Rice and Wake Forest.
With the schedule taking shape, coaches and players alike are focusing on building momentum heading into the new year, hoping the early victories will translate into a strong postseason run.
