A historic night for Columbia football
The Eagles snapped the nation’s longest high school football losing streak on Thursday, defeating Greensboro 41-14 in a game that marked the end of a 101‑game winless stretch.
The victory came nearly ten years after the team’s last win in October 2015, a drought that had seen the program endure multiple winless seasons, including 0‑10, 0‑11 and 0‑9 campaigns between 2016 and 2025.
At the heart of the comeback was senior running back Christian Richey, who surged for more than 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns, steering the offense with a display of power and precision.
The win also erased the memory of a narrow 28‑24 loss to East Lawrence in the previous season, a defeat that had kept the streak alive and intensified the urgency to break through.
Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to test their newfound momentum against East Limestone on August 28, hoping to turn the victory into the start of a sustained winning run.
