The Moe Rosensteel Most Outstanding Player Award, named for former standout Kaitlyn ‘Moe’ Rosensteel, continues to spotlight the premier girls soccer talent in the WPIAL each season. Last year’s recipient, Emily McKee of Fox Chapel, returns for her senior campaign aiming to become the first two‑time awardee.
This year’s 40‑player watchlist features a strong contingent from Westmoreland County, including Ellie Arnold of Kiski Area, Makiah Buchak from Burrell, Grace Copeland of Franklin Regional, Ellie Lebe at Penn‑Trafford, Emerson Shine from Latrobe, Saylor Lee, Abby Russell and Ali Watson of Belle Vernon.
Recent athletic highlights extend beyond soccer. Junior Luke Sikora of Greensburg Salem opened his golf season with a 4‑under‑par 32, while sophomore Amos McConahey of Latrobe posted a career‑best 3‑under 33 in a recent win. In basketball, rising senior Izzie Fontanat from Penn‑Trafford committed to play at Pitt‑Greensburg, citing her defensive prowess and ball‑handling skills. Meanwhile, Gabi Henry, a junior from Greensburg Salem, captured first place in the elite division and finished second in sporting clays at a recent clay‑target invitational.
Coaching changes are also making news; Nate Smith resigned as head coach of Penn‑Trafford wrestling, effective immediately, prompting the school to begin a search for a successor.

In recognition of her long‑lasting impact, former soccer standout and coach Jamie Morrison Campbell was inducted into the Jeannette American Legion Hall of Fame, honoring her contributions to the sport.
