The Cardinals opened their second road game of the season on Sunday, traveling to the WKU Soccer Complex where they faced Western Kentucky. Despite a promising start, Ball State could not break the deadlock, ultimately succumbing to a 2-0 defeat.
Western Kentucky struck first in the third minute, catching the visitors off guard with a swift finish. The lead was doubled in the 48th minute, giving the hosts a comfortable cushion that they defended for the remainder of the match.
Ball State generated chances through forward Jess Fernau in the first half and midfielder Annika Klauss after the break, but both were unable to find the net despite several attempts on goal.
The lineup featured full‑backs Jordyn Klaasen and Ainsley Schaufele, who logged the full 90 minutes, while goalkeeper Kate Pallante also played the entire match, making several saves to keep the score within reach.
