Syracuse Secures Commitment from Top Tight End Michael Nnabuife for 2027 Class

The three‑star recruit chose the Orange over Alabama, Maryland and Kentucky, citing offensive versatility.

Syracuse University announced today that Michael Nnabuife, a three‑star tight end from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, has pledged to join the Orange’s 2027 recruiting class.

Ranked among the top‑50 tight ends nationwide, Nnabuife cited the Orange’s innovative offensive scheme as the primary draw, noting the staff’s ability to deploy him in multiple alignments.

A Versatile ‘Y’ Tight End

At 6‑5 and 250 pounds, the Baltimore native envisions himself as an elite gadget ‘Y’ tight end, capable of lining up split out wide, in the slot, or inline in the backfield. He said the Orange’s playbook gives him the freedom to exploit mismatches across the field.

Nnabuife’s decision came after weighing offers from Alabama, Maryland and Kentucky. In a statement, he highlighted the coaching staff’s vision for his role and the program’s upward trajectory, which currently sits at No. 21 in the 247 Sports national class rankings and No. 35 per Rivals.

The commitment adds depth to a class that is already positioned in the mid‑20s nationally, bolstering Syracuse’s hopes of climbing the rankings as the recruiting cycle progresses. Coach Fran Brown, who has been instrumental in the recruitment, expressed enthusiasm about the player’s fit within the offense.

Syracuse’s athletic department also took the opportunity to showcase the announcement with a hero image, underscoring the excitement surrounding the future of the program.
