Tate Swanson, a former captain of the Hibbing/Chisholm high school hockey team, announced his intention to play for the United States Air Force Academy, bringing a blend of offensive skill and leadership to the Falcons program.
During his senior year he recorded 43 assists and 71 points, earning him a finalist spot for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey award and helping his team capture the Class AA state championship with 12 points in six playoff games.
Swanson will spend the upcoming winter sharpening his game with the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL, a move that follows his brother Cole Swanson's commitment to Western Michigan University.
The forward's decision reflects a growing trend of elite Minnesota prospects seeking diverse development paths, and his eventual arrival in 2027 is expected to add depth to the Air Force Academy's roster.
