Bucknell's Early Surge
La Salle's women's soccer team fell to a 4-0 defeat against Bucknell on Sunday afternoon at Emmitt Field inside Holmes Stadium.
The Bison struck first in the eighth minute when Katie Connell finished a pass from Gaby Parker, and they doubled the lead just five minutes later as Ingrid Murphy added her name to the scoreboard, both goals set up by Parker.
La Salle's junior goalkeeper Samantha Widnick kept the game within reach with six saves, five of them in the opening half, but the Bison's attack continued to press.
Shot Dominance
Bucknell's shot volume overwhelmingly outpaced the Explorers, finishing with a 17-15 advantage in attempts and a 9-7 edge in shots on target, a disparity reflected in the final score.
Tennessee Murphy capped the scoring in the 54th minute, while Ella Cadigan and Shiloh Moore each tested the defense with two shots on goal for La Salle. A late chance by Cadigan was blocked by defender Emma Gavin in the 52nd minute.
The Explorers will look to rebound when they host Drexel in Philadelphia on Thursday, August 27, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
