Boise State’s women’s soccer team saw its 17‑match unbeaten run come to an abrupt end on Tuesday night, as Texas Tech posted a 2‑0 victory in Lubbock, Texas. The result not only marked the Broncos’ first defeat of the season but also snapped the longest unbeaten streak in program history, a record that had stood since the 2018‑19 campaign.
Taylor Zdrojewski was the catalyst for the Red Raiders, striking twice before the half‑hour mark. Her second goal, a curling free‑kick in the 17th minute, swung momentum decisively in Texas Tech’s favor and underscored the defensive frailties Boise State struggled to shore up.
Between the two goals, Boise State goalkeeper Ava de Leest kept the match within reach, making four saves and producing a sharp stop in the early stages. Despite the effort, the Broncos could not find a response, and the Texas Tech attack continued to press.
Head coach Jim Thomas acknowledged the disappointment but highlighted the team’s resilience. ‘It’s a tough loss,’ he said after the final whistle, ‘but I’m proud of how the girls fought for every ball. We’ll take this experience and grow from it.’
The defeat also underscores the challenges of competing on the road, where the Broncos had previously gone 12 straight matches without a loss between 2018 and 2019.
