The University of Evansville men’s soccer team fell to a 3‑0 defeat on Sunday at Indiana University’s home ground in Bloomington, Indiana, marking the second loss of the young season.
From the outset the contest was tightly contested, with neither side finding the net until the 34th minute when the Hoosiers broke the deadlock, taking a 1‑0 lead that set the tone for the remainder of the match. Evansville’s goalkeeper Hugo Amo made several key saves, including a corner‑kick denial in the 56th minute, while Alex Tura’s shot in the 62nd minute was also repelled.
A test of early‑season resilience
The Hoosiers added two more goals, striking in the 65th minute to extend the lead to 2‑0 and capping the scoring in the 85th minute to seal a 3‑0 victory. Chase Ricker had an early attempt in the eighth minute that was saved, and both Tura and Miles Taylor each recorded two shots on goal during the game.
The team will look to rebound when they host Northwestern on Friday at 7 p.m. at Arad McCutchan Stadium, the venue that will also showcase the annual Alumni Game during Alumni Weekend.
Despite the early setbacks, the squad remains focused on tightening defensive organization and capitalizing on chances in the upcoming fixtures, hoping to turn the tide as the season progresses.
