New Faces in Barrie Colts' Hockey Operations
The Barrie Colts announced this week that Kyle Finch will join the club as Assistant Coach and Video Coach, tasked with dissecting game footage to inform strategic decisions and player development.
Finch, a former player turned analyst, will work closely with the coaching staff, providing detailed breakdowns that help shape practice plans and in‑game adjustments throughout the upcoming season.
Joining him is Justin Teakle, appointed to the newly created position of Director of Prospect Development, a role that leverages his more than ten years of coaching experience in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.
Teakle’s résumé includes head coaching stints with the Streetsville Derbys and Cobourg Cougars, as well as an assistant role with the Trenton Golden Hawks, before he served as Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel for the Toronto Patriots.
In his new capacity, he will focus on identifying and nurturing emerging talent, coordinating scouting efforts, and ensuring that prospects transition smoothly into the senior lineup.
Both hires are part of a broader initiative by the Colts’ hockey operations department to modernize player development and enhance analytical support across the organization.
A Forward‑Looking Vision
General Manager Scott McCulloch said the additions reflect the club’s commitment to blending on‑ice expertise with data‑driven insight, positioning the team for sustained competitiveness in the league.
Fans can expect a more structured approach to skill development, with Finch’s video work and Teakle’s scouting network promising clearer pathways for young players aspiring to reach the professional ranks.
