The controversy erupted during a practice session on August 21, 2024, when Brubaker, visibly frustrated, kicked a football at a player, striking him in the groin. The moment was recorded by the team's Hudl video system, providing clear evidence of the act.
A Season Interrupted
Although Brubaker later claimed the kick was accidental and intended for a nearby street, the school administration moved swiftly, notifying him on Friday morning that his contract would be terminated.
The Royal High program, which had posted a 3‑7 record the previous year, rallied under interim leadership, with assistant coach Cody MacArthur guiding the squad to a 62‑0 victory over North Hills Monroe in their first game.
