A Physical Identity Takes Shape
Offensive coordinator Tim Beck and running backs coach Elijah Brooks have emphasized a return to traditional, power‑based football, describing the scheme as a deliberate attempt to control the line of scrimmage and set the tone early in games.
Central to this vision are two transfer running backs, D.J. Crowther and Jason Collins Jr., who bring proven collegiate production and a reputation for toughness. Crowther, who amassed 929 yards and ten touchdowns at Dartmouth, is expected to anchor the ground game, while Collins Jr., a 1,009‑yard rusher from Morgan State, adds a burst of energy and pass‑protection skill.
At quarterback, Michael Van Buren Jr. will take the snaps, bringing a blend of SEC experience and dual‑threat ability. Having started 12 games in the SEC and appeared in 17 contests, he is poised to manage the new scheme while also contributing in the passing game.
