From Chris Stoll and Tyler Duzansky to Jamie Gilliian and Jordan Stout, the Nittany Lions have consistently produced kickers, punters and long snappers who have earned starting roles at the next level. This legacy sets the stage for the 2025 special‑teams unit, where competition is already shaping up.
Kicker Competition
Redshirt junior Ryan Barker anchors the kicking game with a career field‑goal percentage of 89.2%, a mark that tops the school’s all‑time list. He built on that foundation in 2025, converting 94.7% of his attempts and establishing a new single‑season record. Competing for the backup role is Cristiano Rosa, a redshirt senior transfer from James Madison, while true freshman Matthew Parker also pushes for minutes.
Punting and Long Snapping
At punter, Australian transfer Nathan Tiyce, 25, brings a unique blend of experience. In nine games for Penn State he averaged 39 yards per punt, and his five years of farm work in Australian rugby have honed his precision. He will face a challenge from true freshman Lucas Tenbrock, who is also vying for the starting spot. Meanwhile, Andrew Dufault will serve as the team’s backup long snapper and may see action as a punter in certain formations.
The depth chart also includes a versatile backup situation. Rosa will battle Parker for the second kicker slot, while Dufault’s dual role underscores the staff’s flexibility. The coaching staff will evaluate performance in practice and preseason games to determine the final lineup.
