Chris Lazary has been appointed associate head coach of the University of Michigan Wolverines' ice hockey program, bringing a decade of elite coaching experience from the Ontario Hockey League.
A Proven Builder of Winning Cultures
During his seven‑year tenure as head coach of the Saginaw Spirit, Lazary guided the club to three West Division championships and a historic 2024 Memorial Cup victory, the franchise’s first national title.
Prior to Saginaw, he honed his craft as an assistant with the Sarnia Sting and led the Waterloo Siskins to a Midwestern Conference championship, while earlier stints at York University and St. Michael's Buzzers marked the start of his coaching journey.
Lazary has repeatedly emphasized player development, a relentless work ethic, and the creation of a winning culture as the cornerstones of his coaching philosophy.
