Timothy Boggs, once a respected soccer coach and council member in Wooster, Ohio, has pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual battery and one count of attempted sexual battery involving a minor.
The offenses spanned from October 1, 2024, through April 30, 2025, occurring in the small city that sits at the crossroads of Wayne and Holmes counties.
A Pattern of Abuse and Cover-Up
According to court filings, the abuse began after Boggs first met the victim during a controlled text exchange in which he threatened the minor’s phone, a tactic that underscored the power imbalance he wielded.
The victim reported multiple instances of sexual activity to authorities, stating that each encounter took place in Wooster, and that Boggs had used his position within local youth programs to gain access.
Resignation and Community Reaction
Following the mounting allegations, Boggs stepped down from the West Salem Village Council in February 2026, citing personal issues, and also relinquished his coaching duties with Northwestern High School girls soccer and the Ohio Strikers United Soccer Club.
The Ohio Strikers United Soccer Club issued a public statement expressing deep concern over the allegations and reaffirming its commitment to the safety of young athletes.
Local officials noted that Boggs is a non‑citizen, and a notice he signed indicates that a conviction could trigger deportation proceedings, adding a layer of immigration consequence to the criminal case.
