As the 2026 fall semester approached, the Florida Gators baseball team brought a busy summer to a close, having sent twelve of its rising stars into a handful of elite collegiate summer circuits across the United States.
Among those participants, three Gators earned the rare honor of selection to the USA Collegiate National Team, a testament to the program’s depth. Right‑handers Jackson Barberi, Aidan King and left‑hander Joshua Whritenour each contributed to the national roster, with Barberi posting a 1.93 ERA and a 0.64 WHIP in his final appearance at the World Collegiate Baseball Championship.
The exposure to high‑level competition also yielded impressive individual statistics. Jon Embury, the reigning Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year, carried his hot streak into the Cape Cod League, batting .320 with a .426 on‑base percentage. Meanwhile, Cameron Hanes logged a 3.65 ERA for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs, striking out 34 batters against just seven walks, and Aidan King served as a co‑ace for the national team, delivering eight shutout innings.
Additional standouts included Eddie Marshall, who posted a .353 average with eight RBI and six runs scored, and Cash Strayer, a Cape League All‑Star who added three home runs and five steals while batting .353. Colton Schwarz, competing in the Valley League, posted a .272/.543/.591 line with two homers, rounding out a productive summer for the Gators.
Fall Practice on the Horizon
With the summer slate complete, attention now turns to the fall. The coaching staff has announced that key practice dates and exhibition games will be revealed in early September, with updates to be posted on social media and the official FloridaGators.com site.
The upcoming fall session promises to build on the momentum generated over the summer, giving the Gators a chance to fine‑tune strategies and integrate new talent before the next competitive cycle.
