A Rising Star in the Making
Amanda Adams, a junior forward hailing from Keller, Texas, has quickly become a cornerstone of Grand Canyon University’s women’s soccer program in her inaugural season with the Lopes.
Her impact was recognized immediately when she was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2, a testament to her offensive contributions that have propelled the team to early successes.
Adams has anchored the front line, leading the squad in goals, assists and overall attacking output. She struck the decisive goal in the 10th minute against Buffalo, securing a 1‑0 victory, and added two assists in the same match, including the first goal of her college career against Arizona.
Although a shot against Texas rattled the post, the near‑miss underscored her persistence and ability to create chances. She has generated multiple scoring opportunities alongside senior forward Ellie Johannes and sophomore Piper Carlson, forming a dynamic attacking trio.
Head coach Chris Cissell has praised Adams’ rapid adaptation, attributing her early success to both her individual talent and the collective effort of the offensive unit.
Looking ahead, the Lopes have two fixtures remaining this week, with the next showdown scheduled against CSU Northridge on Thursday night, offering another chance for Adams to extend her influence.
