UCLA’s men’s basketball program is set to welcome a quartet of transfers that could reshape its lineup for the coming campaign. The newcomers — forwards Filip Jovic and Sergej Macura and guards Jaylen Petty and Azavier Robinson — bring a blend of experience and skill that coaches hope will translate into immediate on‑court impact.
A Strategic Reinforcement
Jovic arrives after a season in which he averaged 6.3 points and four rebounds for Auburn, offering a reliable inside presence and a knack for securing second‑chance opportunities.
Macura, who spent the previous year at Mississippi State, posted five points and nearly five rebounds per game, and he will enter the season as a junior with two years of eligibility remaining, giving the Bruins added depth at the forward position.
Petty, a freshman last season at Texas Tech, contributed nearly ten points per game while also pulling down almost four rebounds and dishing out two assists, suggesting a versatile scoring threat that can stretch defenses.
Robinson’s shooting efficiency was a standout, as he shot 47 percent from the field and 43 percent from three‑point range, though his season was cut short by a left wrist injury in early February, leaving his full‑season impact still uncertain.
The transfers will be joined by incoming freshmen Javonte Floyd and Joe Philon, who are expected to add further athleticism and perimeter shooting to the mix.
Coach Mick Cronin has emphasized that the blend of veteran transfers and promising newcomers creates a competitive environment in practice, a factor he believes will elevate the team’s overall performance.
