Eaglestaff Joins UC San Diego Men’s Basketball
UC San Diego Athletics revealed that Treysen Eaglestaff will join the Tritons for the 2026‑27 campaign, adding a seasoned scorer who has already made his mark across multiple Division I programs and arrives as a fifth‑year scholar‑athlete.
During his most recent season at West Virginia he started all 35 games, averaging 9.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest, and delivered a 51‑point outburst in the Summit League tournament that set a new record.
A Scoring Maestro with Proven Versatility
Before that, Eaglestaff spent three years at North Dakota, where he became the only Division I player to record multiple 40‑point games in the 2024‑25 season, averaging 18.9 points while shooting 41.6 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from three‑point range.
Coach Clint Allard praised the newcomer, noting that Eaglestaff’s productivity, versatility and team‑first mentality align perfectly with the Tritons’ culture as the program continues its ascent from Division II to Division I.
The move also underscores UC San Diego’s broader ambition, a university that has captured 30 team championships and cultivated over 1,400 All‑America scholar‑athletes since its transition to Division I, maintaining a graduation rate that tops 90 percent among public institutions at this level.
With a blend of scoring firepower and a disciplined work ethic, Eaglestaff is expected to bolster the Tritons’ competitiveness as they aim to leave a lasting imprint in the highly contested NCAA landscape.
