Bill Foy, a seasoned strategist with a track record of turning programs into contenders, has been named the new head coach of Ranger College’s women’s basketball team.
His return follows a four‑year stretch in which he guided the Rangers to a 80‑43 overall record and three appearances in the Region V Tournament, the most recent of which ended with a third‑place conference finish and a berth in the regional tournament.
Championship pedigree
Under Foy’s leadership the program posted a 80‑43 record across his previous tenures, highlighted by a 2005 NJCAA Division I National Championship at Paris Junior College and two National Coach of the Year honors.
Beyond the women’s basketball court, Foy has also left his mark on other sports; he previously steered the Ranger College men’s golf team to its first NJCAA National Tournament qualification, and his assistant work at the University of North Texas contributed to a 127‑68 record and two NCAA Tournament bids.
Ranger College Athletic Director Scott Norwood praised Foy’s professionalism and coaching acumen, stating that his proven ability to develop talent and foster a competitive culture made him the obvious choice for the program.
Foy holds a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University and a master’s degree from Prairie View A&M University, and he is a father of two married daughters and a grandfather to a two‑year‑old named Braelon.
