A New Era for the No. 33
Austin Hill will step into the iconic No. 33 Chevrolet in the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series, taking over from the late Kyle Busch. The move comes after a season of impressive performances in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series, where Hill amassed 16 victories from 169 starts.
Richard Childress, team owner, expressed confidence in Hill’s abilities, citing his rapid growth and consistent results across multiple NASCAR divisions. Hill, who previously finished 14th at Daytona International Speedway in his lone Cup start, is now set for a full‑time campaign.
The promotion marks Hill’s first full‑time appearance in the Cup Series. While he will not be eligible for Rookie of the Year honors, the driver said he is grateful for the opportunity and eager to contribute to the team’s success.
Hill will continue to compete in the O’Reilly Series for the remainder of 2026, balancing his schedule as he prepares for the transition. The team also announced that the No. 33 seat will be fielded with full technical support, aiming to contend for wins from the outset.
