WSU Baseball Earns Five All-Mountain West Selections
The Washington State University baseball program celebrated a productive week as five of its athletes were recognized on the All-Mountain West Conference team, a testament to a season that finished with a 27-25 record.
Senior right-hander Nick Lewis stood out, earning both the Conference Pitcher of the Year award and a first-team nod after posting an 8-2 record with a 3.39 ERA.
Joining him on the first team were infielder Max Hartman, who led the Cougars with 116 total bases and a .333 batting average, and outfielder Gavin Roy, who posted a team-best .365 and collected 69 hits.
Freshmen Ryan Skjonsby and Griffin Smith rounded out the honors with second-team selections; Skjonsby hit .333 with 59 hits and eight home runs, while Smith finished the regular season with five wins.
Coach John Olerud praised the group’s depth, noting that the contributions of players like Joe Pistorese added stability to the roster throughout the campaign.
The Cougars now turn their attention to the Mountain West Conference Tournament, where they will meet the victor of the Air Force and UNLV matchup in a bid to extend their season.
